FATHER DAUGHTER BALL

In 1997, a small group of women from Christ Lutheran Church had a vision of hosting an event that would strengthen father/daughter relationships. This was the start of the "Annual Father/Daughter Ball." With encouragement from the congregational members, we took a leap of faith and God opened doors. The first "ball" was held in the Marshall School cafeteria and had a DJ for the music.
The ball has grown substantially since then. In 1999, we moved to the Greysolon Plaza Ballroom and gradually began adding additional evenings to accommodate the increasing interest. By 2006, we expanded the Father Daughter Ball to four evenings with just over 1400 guests! In 2007, tickets for the ball sold out in just over an hour! God is good! When Greysolon Plaza Ballroom was sold, we made the decision to change our venue. We began hosting our event at the DECC Lake Superior Ballroom in 2009. We have had as many as 950 guests attend per evening. We now cap our attendance at 650 to allow for enough dance floor space. The event is held two evenings each year, in January or February.
The Father Daughter Ball has been blessed to be able to sponsor men and their daughter's from the Duluth branch of the MN Adult and Teen Challenge to attend the event one of the evenings. This is a blessing for the Dads as they rebuild their relationships with their families on their road to recovery.
